Explore Sacred Wasteland: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2019 during the Ackland’s extended 2nd Friday ArtWalk hours (10 AM – 9 PM).

when they become us. is a collaborative, socially-engaged performance event co-organized by Jonh Blanco, ShaLeigh Dance Works, and the Ackland Art Museum as part of Sacred Wasteland: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2019. Held outdoors adjacent to the Ackland Art Museum’s entrance, it is a performance that invites audience, community, and dancers to become participants in creating authentic group movement that examines the concepts of undocumented, transitional, irregular, displaced, migrating, refugee, illegal, and unlawful vessels and bodies.

2nd Friday ArtWalk at the Ackland
Every second Friday of the month, the Ackland participates as a venue in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro 2nd Friday ArtWalk, staying open until 9:00 PM and offering a variety of interactive, all-ages activities in addition to all exhibitions being open to visitors. Admission is free.
