Join us on September’s Ackland Away for the Day trip to tour Cassilhaus’ special exhibition, AIRLOOM, led by co-founder Frank Konhaus!

Cassilhaus is a home, a singular piece of architecture, a lifelong arts project, and a love-filled partnership between Ellen Cassilly and Frank Konhaus. After a five-year land search and a three-year design process, Cassilhaus was born as dream home/art gallery/artist studio and residency in the woods between Durham and Chapel Hill and has grown into an exciting nexus for arts activity and community in the Triangle region.

AIRLOOM celebrates 15 years of the Cassilhaus Artist-in-Residence program and features the work of 53 of the 61 artists that have been through the program. Pictured above is a work titled Friday Night 2616 by David Pace, a 2015 artist-in-residence, which is on view in the exhibition. Curated by Ellen and Frank, they have focused on work that was produced during the artists’ time at Cassilhaus or later work inspired by their time here. A wide range of media is showcased including photography, painting, works on paper, video, poetry, dance, sculpture, book arts, choreography, music, animation, collage, drawing, writing, film, and textile arts. See the gallery guide here.

Following the tour, you are invited to bring your own lunch to dine on the grounds at Cassilhaus.

We kindly ask that you do not forward this invitation to others as this is a member benefit to register for Ackland Away for the Day trips and you receive priority registration as a Patron level or above member. Registration will open to all members on August 20.

Register today to reserve your spot! Members may only bring one guest per trip. Please plan to travel by car or carpool. RSVP by September 6.
