How have artists represented the characters from Homer’s Odyssey through the centuries? How do images translate and adapt the words from this epic poem for new, diverse audiences? Professors Timothy Shea and Hérica Valladares, both from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Classics with adjunct appointments in the Department of Art and Art History, will lead a seminar-style discussion focusing on works from the museum’s collection, ranging from an ancient Greek vase fragment to a twentieth-century lithograph by American artist Benton Spruance.

Free, registration required below.
