In this hands-on workshop, explore the concept of creative excision — extracting or removing information to create new meaning — while learning more about how visiting artist Elizabeth Alexander employs the technique in her own works. Alexander, whose porcelain work Spit Cake (2014) is currently on view at the Ackland, will lead participants in a variety of excision processes in different media during this free workshop for UNC students. Materials will be provided; no experience necessary.

Free and open to current UNC students. Space is extremely limited. CLE credit will be offered.

Presented in connection with the Art Bridges Collection Loan Partnership
