SUMMARY:Music in the Galleries X Family and Friends Sunday: Brain-Inspired Dance
DESCRIPTION:Music in the Galleries X Family and Friends Sunday\n24 March| 2-4 PM\nBrain-Inspired Dance\, choreographed by Killian Manning \nInspired by the contemporary images of the brain featured in The Beautiful Brain\, SITES Choreographer Killian Manning has planned an interactive afternoon of site-specific\, art-inspired dance in the galleries. Visitors of all ages will be invited to join five dancers in movement and dance in response to the art on view. This family-friendly event is a cross-over between our popular Music in the Galleries series and Family and Friends Sunday. \nManning’s dance is set to music by Spanish composers contemporaneous with Cajal\, as well as contemporary Spanish works. She also incorporates texts from Cajal’s dream journals. \n2PM: Dance performance\n2:30 PM: Family and Friends participatory dance\n3:30 PM: Dance Performance \nThis is the second of two performances choreographed by Manning in connection with The Beautiful Brain. Join us on 17 February for the first performance\, this time inspired by the drawings of Santiago Ramon y Cajal featured in the exhibition. \nPart of the SITES 2018-2019 series of experimental art and performances. \nPrintmaking Demonstration with SuperGraphic Print Lab \nWatch the dynamic printmakers of SuperGraphic Print Lab in action as they create screen prints inspired by the drawings of Santiago Ramón y Cajal. Join the fun in the Ackland’s outdoor courtyard from 2 – 5 PM. Once the prints are dry\, SuperGraphic will offer them to visitors to take home.

SUMMARY:Music in the Galleries: Cajal-Inspired Dance
DESCRIPTION:Music in the Galleries\n17 February | 2-4 PM\nCajal-Inspired Dance\, choreographed by\nKillian Manning \nInspired by the drawings of Santiago Ramon y Cajal featured in The Beautiful Brain\, SITES Choreographer Killian Manning has planned an afternoon performance of site-specific\, art-inspired dance in the galleries with five dancers. Manning has set her dance to music by composers working in Spain at the same time as Cajal (Falla\, Turina\, and Albeniz)\, as well as contemporary Spanish composers Jose Maria Sanchez Verdu and Ramon Lazkano. The piece also incorporates texts from Cajal’s dream journals. \nPerformances at 2:00\, 2:45\, and 3:30 PM \nThis is the first of two performances choreographed by Manning in connection with The Beautiful Brain. Join us on 24 March for second performance\, this time inspired by the contemporary images featured in the exhibition. \nPart of the SITES 2018-2019 series of experimental art and performances.
