This is a family-friendly event. Please tag your photos! #acklandpARC \nNEW in the galleries: July 8 is the first day to see our new exhibition Alexis Rockman: Shipwrecks. The Museum galleries will remain open until 9 p.m. for our 2nd Friday evening hours.

DESCRIPTION:Join us as the Ackland resumes our popular Art Adventures class in person with instructor Allison Tierney! We will be inspired by works in Pleasures and Possibilities: Five Patrons of the Asian Art Collection. \nArt Adventures sessions provide kids with a guided view of art in the Ackland’s galleries\, followed by the opportunity to create take-home treasures in an adjacent art studio using newly-learned art-making techniques. Materials are provided. \nThe Ackland Art Museum is operating under the guidelines of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As of March 7\, 2022\, masks are optional in our galleries. \nClass sessions will be limited to 10 participants. Art Adventures is geared towards children aged 6-9. \nIf you encounter registration issues\, please email us at acklandRSVP@unc.edu. We apologize for any inconvenience.

SUMMARY:Drawing for Tweens (AM Session) - July
DESCRIPTION:This program invites 10- to 13-year-olds to look at selected works in the Ackland’s galleries and identify techniques that the artists used to make them. \nGallery teachers demonstrate and teach participants technical skills\, which they can then apply to their own artistic creations. A mix of drawing from works on display and creating one’s own original works is offered in each session. Materials are provided. \nClass sessions will be limited to 10 participants. \nThe Ackland Art Museum is operating under the guidelines of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate summer and the spirit of play at pARC by The Urban Conga\, the Ackland’s newly opened Terrace installation\, with interactive art-inspired movement workshops! \n6-9 p.m. | pARC Movement Workshops\nJoin a pARC-inspired movement workshop led by choreographer Killian Manning\, with special musical guest Daniel Levin on cello. Workshops begin at 6 p.m.\, 7 p.m.\, and 8 p.m. All ages and abilities are welcome! Wear comfortable clothing for a July evening and rubber-soled shoes. \nMore to Explore: \n– Pick up a F.A.M. Activity Kit and make your own reflective suncatcher inspired by pARC. Available while supplies last during our regular hours.\n– Take a Summery Scavenger Hunt through the galleries to cool off.
